Many people actually find it to be better! While the quality of care should be relatively the same, given you are meeting with a Licensed Professional Counselor, many clients actually feel more relaxed and comfortable in the privacy of their own home, and with less stress related to commuting to appointments.
It is wonderful to have caring, supportive friends who will lend an ear and provide guidance to help you navigate difficult times and situations. But sometimes that just isn't enough for what you may be going through. It's possible you may need a professionally trained counselor to help you really identify the root cause of what is troubling you, and help you make meaningful changes in your life.
Online therapy is similar to in-person therapy, except you will be working with your therapist live via HIPAA-compliant video from your laptop or phone. This is currently only available to clients located in Texas.
We do not currently accept insurance. However, upon request we can provide a super bill to clients who would like to file an Out-of-Network claim to their insurance company. Please contact your insurance provider directly for specific information about Out-of-Network Mental Health benefits and Telehealth coverage.
Some individuals opt not to use their employer provided insurance for privacy reasons. Some insurance companies will required a documented mental health diagnosis to cover counseling and therapy, and many people are uncomfortable with that paper trail and process. This is an individual choice for each client.
Ultimately you , and only you, are in control of if, and how long you're in therapy. The decision to participate in counseling is always yours alone. But once you've made the decision to work toward making meaningful changes in your life with help and guidance from a licensed professional counselor, we we will be here to help you every step of the way, for whatever amount of time that may take. It is hard to predict exactly how long therapy will take since it is such an individual experience, but we will not keep you any longer than needed.
Trauma can be anything that is less than nurturing, it doesn't have to be physical violence, war, or death. It can be something like being bullied at school, losing the big game, or not getting a good grade on an exam. All of these trauma's have left some impression on you, my goal is to help eliminate the negative belief associated with the trauma so that you can live your best life.
