Our goal is to connect with you in a way that makes you feel heard, understood, and valued in a genuine and real way so that you are able to navigate through rough spots in your life. Whether you are feeling depressed, anxious, worthless, feeling avoidant, or just ambivalent about life and feel directionless — we will work together to develop tools that will put you back on the path you want to be on or find relief from issues that are weighing on you.
Our approach to therapy is to identify what is causing you distress, get to the root cause of it and help you make sense of it and reprocess it. We will look at memories that may be less than nurturing and had a traumatic effect on you, mentally or even physically. Sometimes these memories are stuck in a negative loop in your mind, and Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) therapy can help “unstick” them.
In addition to identifying where the bad habits may have started, we will also help you start to change any negative self-talk or thinking. We will work together to determine where and when this habit started and will help you develop tools to overcome it with Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT).
That tightness in your chest, insomnia, lying awake in your bed at night thinking about all the things you “should have” done, pacing the room, the worry of “am I good enough,” worrying if you forgot something, constantly thinking people are thinking negative things about you — these are not healthy thoughts and they most likely did not happen overnight.
The goal for all of our clients is to help alleviate these symptoms by connecting in a genuine and real way so that you feel heard and valued so that you feel comfortable enough to address the root cause of these symptoms. It’s okay if you don’t know why they start either, we will figure it out together.
